Description

Hatchettes are large, flightless birds characterized by an axe-like beak. They stand up to 8 feet tall and their feathers range from light tan to near black. Over the eons, they have adapted to live in a variety of climates.

Hatchettes are quite aggressive and will attack anyone who comes too close. In combat they swing their heads, using the razor-sharp edge of their beaks like an axe. Also, they will pounce on their prey and attack with their claws. Hatchettes have a particular fondness for halfling flesh, and will generally attack them first. Some species have domesticated hatchettes and ride them into battle. In those instances, hatchettes may only attack with their beaks. Their riders may attack as normal.
