There are four possible character classes in the game: the Cleric, the Fighter, the Magic-user, and the Thief (optional). The Referee is, of course, free to invent or allow other character classes in the game; see Optional Classes for a table-ready set of alternatives.

The Cleric

Armored priests who serve a particular alignment, religion, or patron deity.

The Fighter

A warrior trained for battle and in the use of armor and weapons.

The Magic-User

A mysterious student of arcane powers and dark magic.

The Thief

An optional class relying on guile, stealth, and opportunistic violence.

Optional Classes

Referee-approved alternatives with new class features and advancement tables.

Class Tables

Each class page includes its advancement table in context, and all chapter tables remain available in Formatted Tables.
